Pinterest Jewels

I found lots of great jewelry inspiration this past week.  Most of them are from pinterest.  I can't wait to try some of them!

This is actually from Anthropologie.  It think it would be pretty simple to make a similar one.  I love the ribbon tie!

Starburst Bracelet {Tutorial}

My family went camping this past weekend.  One of our favorite things to do is roast Starbursts.  (If you never have, you do it the same way you would roast a marshmallow.  It is so yummy!)  Anyway, I decided to make a bracelet with some of the wrappers.

All you need are an even number of Starburst wrappers.  I used 20 for this little one.  It is on my son's wrist...thankfully he's not too old to model girl colors for me.  He is such a good sport!

I used wrappers from the "Fav Reds" package.  These are so good...it was our first time trying them.

 Flatten out the wrapper.

 Fold the wrapper in half.

 Open up the wrapper and fold each side to the center.

 Then fold each side to the center again.

 Fold that piece in half (again).

 Then fold that in half (short way).

 Then fold each end to the center.

Repeat. Many times.

 Here is a picture of how each side of the finished piece will look like.  This will be important when you put them together.  (I will call the left picture "backside" and the right picture "frontside").

 To make things easier, you will always want to face the frontside down, or facing toward the larger part of the bracelet.  This will make it easier to fit the next piece through.

Here is what the first attachment looks like.

 This picture might better illustrate the above mentioned easier method.  See how the frontside is facing down towards the rest of the bracelet?

Here are several connected pieces.

 

 Once your bracelet gets long enough, you need to attach the end pieces.  Take one of your pieces and unfold it to look like the above picture.

 Insert the piece up between the openings in the last piece and up through the center of the first piece.

 Then fold each side around the outside of the first piece.

Tuck both ends into the bottom piece.  In the above picture, look at the darker red piece that says "Punc." It is being tucked into the lighter pink piece.  (It is easiest to put on the bracelet if you fasten the ends while it is around your wrist.  If you don't have someone to help you, you could attach snaps to the ends or velcro, which would make this super easy!  It is actually something I would suggest.)

Felt Pom Pom {Tutorial}

One of my fabulous readers requested a tutorial for the pom pom necklace.  I made a tutorial for the pom poms...the rest is really easy to figure out.  Plus, I don't have another chain to connect this one to yet.

 

Here are the supplies you will need:  glue gun, scissors, pen, felt, beads (optional), and template.  (*Note:  I used the lid of a baby bottle.  The size of your circle determines the size of the finished pom pom.)

Draw lots of circles onto your felt.  It takes 10 circles for each pom pom.  I made 4 pom poms, so I needed 40 circles.

I drew on 20 circles and doubled up my felt, which cut the cutting time in half.

To make things easier, I pinned the layers together within each circle.  This helps to keep the fabric from sliding while you are cutting.  Thus, preventing odd-shaped circles.

Cut out all the circles INSIDE THE PEN LINE (so you don't have black edges!).

I stacked my circles into piles.  I made 4 piles of 10.  This isn't necessary, just fun, plus, you have all you'll need in one stack.  Look at the cute little piles!

Take one circle and fold it in half.

Then fold the half in half.

Then put a dab of hot glue in the center and hold it for a few seconds.  Do this to 9 circles for each pom pom.

Glue 4 of the folded pieces onto the bottom circle.  Make sure all the folds are all facing the same direction when you glue them down.

Glue another 4 on top.  Stagger this row, so this layer is overlapping the bottom row cracks.

Glue the last folded piece onto the top, and it looks like this!   You can add a bead to the center also, which adds some pizazz!

Te create a necklace, glue your pom poms onto a larger piece of felt and trim around the edges of your flower, so the back piece cannot be seen from the front.  Then attach a chain, and voila, you have your own cute pom pom necklace!

Pink Rolled Rose Bracelet

I saw these cute jersey bracelets featured on Ucreate, that the ladies at jujuB had made.  I don't have a lot of accessories, because I haven't bought any since high school, and I got rid of all the outdated ones, so I decided I needed to make myself some. (Sorry about the run-on!  I needed a deep breath after reading that one. :))  I have seen so many cute ideas online, so this is the first of two accessories I've made myself so far.  (The other one being the sweet red pom pom necklace.)

I have already worn it and it goes perfectly with a skirt I fixed up for myself (post on this to come later...check back Monday!)  I even made one for my sister that I will show off  some other time too!

I used bright pink cotton fabric scraps (that my awesome mom let me have :), black felt, gunmetal colored beads, and gray ribbon.  Oh, and hot glue, of course :).

Red Pom Pom Necklace

I thought it would be fun to try out a pom pom necklace.  I got the idea from Ucreate, where she featured Little Miss Momma.  Anyway...I just loved the necklace and wanted to give it a try.  Only, I used felt for mine, and added a ribbon bow and some beads!

I just love how bright the red is! I love the felt and how much "volume" they each have.  Ha ha, volume...like hair volume, get it? jk...it's early and I am loopy this morning I guess.

There are tutorials all over blogland to make these, so I didn't include one.  However, if you would like me to, let me know...I would be happy to make another one! :)

Chicken Wire Jewelry Holder

I was inspired to create jewelry holder when I came across Ucreate Crafts earlier this month.  I clicked on the link Create With Me and found out that each month, she has a craft you create and then share.  This is my first time, and I have been so excited about doing it!  Go check it out, it is lots of fun!

I started out with a thrift store frame, which was super ugly.  It was speckled with black, white, and gray. See?  This picture doesn't really show just how hideous it was.

I painted the Beast with lavender and then distressed it with black.  I stapled the chicken wire to the back and sanded the edges to give it a shabby look.  I am loving this beauty!
