Chicken Wire Jewelry Holder

I was inspired to create jewelry holder when I came across Ucreate Crafts earlier this month.  I clicked on the link Create With Me and found out that each month, she has a craft you create and then share.  This is my first time, and I have been so excited about doing it!  Go check it out, it is lots of fun!

I started out with a thrift store frame, which was super ugly.  It was speckled with black, white, and gray. See?  This picture doesn't really show just how hideous it was.

I painted the Beast with lavender and then distressed it with black.  I stapled the chicken wire to the back and sanded the edges to give it a shabby look.  I am loving this beauty!

Washer Necklace

I got inspiration for this necklace from the blog Just Between Friends.  There is a great tutorial over there, so check it out!  I picked out a few sizes of washers from a local hardware store.  The one above is 7/8 wide by 5/16 thick.  I also bought some larger ones that were too thick and the stamping didn't work very well.   Now that I know that, I will know what to look for next time I go.  It was super easy and so much fun.  I just used some ribbon, beads and jewelry-making leftovers that I already had.

Project Reveal

Surprised to see me back to soon?  I told you to come back soon!  It is my goal to post more often.  Anyways, lets get to the reason for this post.  I have been working on pillows for my couch!  It has been such a fun adventure.  I bought three of the pillows at Ross (two of them were super ugly yellow, looking like old curtains, or like 70s yellow carpet color - get the picture?).  Anyways, I bought them there since that was so cheap.  I also found a full sheet set while I was there that I loved ($10 - awesome!)  The other two pillows came with our couch, but were kind of plain looking.

My inspiration came from a variety of blogs, months of thinking, and some pillows at Ross.  I had so much fun making them.  My favorite is the ruffly brown and tan one.  It took me the longest, but it was so fun!  Oh, I should also note that instead of sewing the pillows shut, I closed the bottoms with velcro, to make for easy washing.  Little hands seem to leave food and various smudges on things. (They are cute smudges :)).
Let me know if you would like to know how I made them.  I would be happy to answer any questions!

Sneak Peek

I have been busy with a somewhat large project.  The project itself isn't large, but it took me since last Monday to finish.  I have been working on it during Isaac's naptimes and then as he will let me when he is awake.   This has been something I have wanted to make for a while, and I am super excited that it is done!

Come back soon to see what I made!

Distressed Family Frame

I make display projects for a local craft store.  This is one of my latest creations.

It originally started out as an Easter decoration, with embellished papers in each of the windows.  The store wanted me to add pictures so they could display it longer.  I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, because I have been excited to get this one back to hang in my home.  I have the perfect place for it!

I think it would look super cool with mirrors in it.  What do you think?
